District nursing services The district nursing service provides district nursing to the city and outlying rural areas of Christchurch seven days a week, 24 hours a day.This includes wound care, palliative care, medications, catheter care and intravenous therapy. Diabetes The diabetes service provides support, advice and education to General Practice to support people with diabetes. Wound care clinic The wound care clinic runs outpatient clinics at Nurse Maude Merivale to assist with managing complex woulnds. Continence advisors The continence advisors run outpatient clinics within Nurse Maude in Merivale as well as outlying areas such as Kaiapoi. Stomal therapists The stomal therapist work in the community and visit patients in the both public and private surgical hospitals within Christchurch pre and post surgery. Intraveneous Therapy service The intravenous therapy service is run in the community and delivered by Nurses in the IV clinic based at Merivale as well as by district nurses in the community. This enable people to receive their intravenous therapy in a community setting rather than in a hospital. Palliative care Nurse Maude’s Hospice Palliative Care service is provided across the greater Canterbury region, including Kaikoura, Ashburton, Banks Peninsula, Hanmer Springs and across the West Coast. The Hospice Palliative Care Service has a multi-disciplinary team which includes trained nurses, doctors, a Paediatric Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist, allied health professionals and a Family Support team which includes a kaiāwhina and pastoral care worker. Hospital Nurse Maude Hospital is a 40-bed, fully licensed hospital with registered nursing and medical staff committed to the philosophy that the welfare of the patient must come first.The hospital specialises in aged care and those needing palliative care.
