Whether you are looking for (subsidised/free) insulation or heating, other energy efficiency services or (free) independent energy advice, CEA can help. As a charitable trust we have your interest at heart.
Our surpluses go to our charitable projects, helping households in the community keep warmer and healthier for less. CEA provides cost-effective solutions and expert service with a charitable purpose.
We are THE Canterbury and West Coast insulation provider since 1994.
Suburbs/Districts/Towns Serviced
CEA works in North and Mid Canterbury (north of the Rangitata River) the as well as all of the West Coast. Both towns and rural areas are serviced. |

Service Description
CEA Charitable Trust provides in-home, personalised energy advice, installs insulation, provides recycled curtains and sells some energy efficiency products in store and online. It can also refer/arrange for efficient heating and more efficient lighting to be installed. Many services are free or heavily subsidised for older customers but this may depend on area or income. CEA can accept referrals from organisation and health professionals for their clients and is well used to working with the support system (e.g. adult children) of older persons. |

Meeting the needs of older people
Nearly half of CEA's customers are households where there is at least one person over the age of 65. Older people especially need a house that is warm and dry and affordable to heat to stay healthier and CEA can help to achieve that. It has access to more subsidies for a warm home than any other organisation in Canterbury and the West Coast. It is recommended to seek help early and preferably in spring and summer, as waitlists can apply and less time is available during the busy winter period. |

Description
Insulation and heating Insulation is the first step to a warmer, healthier and more comfortable home. All homes built or insulated before 2008 are recommended to be checked for insulation and topped up. Even with insulation, nearly all New Zealand homes will need heating to achieve recommended warmth levels. At CEA we can help you getting the comfortable, healthy home you deserve. We can help both low and higher income households with subsidies available for low income households. CEA is a service provider of the government's Kiwi Warmer Homes subsidy programme. |

What's New
![]() All homes built before 2008 or which did not have their insulation topped up since, are likely to have too little insulation to keep warm at an affordable cost. Luckily more homes than ever qualify for a subsidy to get insulation installed or topped up. Criteria have been extended and more low income areas are now qualifying ! In those low income areas owner-occupiers qualify for 80-100% subsidy on insulation regardless of their income. So if you do not have a Community Services Card as part of your GoldCard, give us a call and we check whether your address qualifies. If you do have a Community Services Card, you will qualify for a subsidy regardless where you live. We can do a free check whether your house would benefit from a top-up. |
