Description
Manawatu's only stand alone Specialist Dementia Care Facility - Our focus is solely Dementia Care.
We believe our care is second to none for these reasons:

***SUPERB ACTIVITIES PROGRAMME & WALKING GROUP
We have an extensive activities programme run by our fully qualified Diversional Therapist and Activities Coordinator tailored to meet residents needs. Residents and families have input into the programme which includes a walking group, twice weekly outings, entertainment groups, pet therapy, and children who visit regularly.

***IDEAL HOME ENVIRONMENT - In keeping with world best practice and the current draft MOH guidelines (and in contrast to many other dementia care facilities), we have less than 20 residents in each of our separately staffed wings.

***OUTDOOR AREAS
Our outdoor areas have been designed in conjunction with Hammond Care Australia (a world authority on dementia environment design) to meet the specific outdoor needs of people with dementia.
Rather than vast open spaces our three outdoor areas provide ample, purposeful & tailored use of outdoor space. Sensory gardens, flowing water and many other features provide freedom, stimulation, peace and instill a feeling of safety for all our residents.
These areas are very functional with unrestricted access and designed specifically to support the person with dementia.

***NO DEAD END CORRIDORS - We have internal & external walking loops which allow residents to freely roam between indoors and outdoors.
There are also no dead end corridors which is very important for promoting residents sense of freedom and minimizing their confusion.

***SPECIALISED STAFF - Our staff solely practice dementia care and therefore are extremely good at it.

***RESTRAINT FREE - We do not use any form of restraint in our home.

***ENHANCED RESIDENTS SAFETY - We have numerous additional safety measures not always found in other homes.

***CLOSE TO PALMERSTON NORTH - We are only a mere 10 - 15 minute drive from Palmerston North. Our home is easily accessible to all residents and their families seeking specialist dementia care in the Manawatu area.

***FREE SHUTTLE***TWICE WEEKLY***
We offer FREE transport on a Monday and Wednesday to and from Wimbledon Villa within the FEILDING, ASHHURST & PALMERSTON NORTH areas for relatives of loved ones at our Home.
Morning tea and lunch are provided free of charge.

***WEDNESDAY OUTING CLUB***
This is an outing day for anyone from the PALMERSTON NORTH, FEILDING and ASHHURST areas who has been assessed as requiring Stage 3 (Dementia Care) Support. We offer FREE transportation and a day of fun, laughter and companionship including an outing.

It allows families and carers to give their loved ones a days outing with Wimbledon Villa's specialist dementia care team along with some of our residents.

We offer FREE transport to and from Wimbledon Villa within the FEILDING, ASHHURST & PALMERSTON NORTH area.

Carers - enjoy a break and some time to yourself whilst knowing your relative is safe with us and enjoying an outing with others.

Morning tea and lunch will be provided free of charge. We would love you to join us!!

***UNIQUE - Manawatu's only stand alone Specialist Dementia Care Facility - Our focus is solely Dementia Care.

Wimbledon Villa is privileged to be able to offer a SPECIALIST DEMENTIA CARE FACILITY in a homely type environment with staff trained to a high standard. Our facility is based on "Eden Care" principles; a philosophy encouraging one's 'spark of life'.

In 2010 we decided to specialise in only Dementia Care. By doing this we believe our staff, and the care they are able to deliver is of the highest quality.
WE ARE MANAWATU'S ONLY STAND ALONE DEMENTIA CARE HOME.

We offer a very safe and secure environment but residents also have the freedom to come and go indoors and outdoors as they please and enjoy our lovely gardens and surroundings.
In liaising with Hammond Care Dementia Specialists in Sydney, Australia, (a world class Dementia specialist service),we have established two delightful interactive dementia specific courtyards.

A number of world leading working groups have recommended that dementia care units should have less than 20 residents. At Wimbledon Villa our home is divided into 2 distinct separately staffed areas of less than 20 residents.

Our Clinical Nurse Manager is a highly experienced Registered Nurse. In addition we have two other experienced Registered Nurses.

We offer an excellent activities programme for all our residents with an experienced Activities Co-coordinator.

Most of the home has been purpose built and is well furbished, with bright sunny rooms, many with en-suites.
The original homestead built in the 1880's has been retained.

An information pack is available from the home and we invite anyone considering Dementia Care for their friend or relative to come and visit us first as part of their decision making process.

Testimonials
I cannot speak highly enough of Wimbledon Villa. My husband has been in Wimbledon for 5 months and he is so well looked after, they are wonderful in the way they care for him. The staff are all very caring and happy and have lots of patience caring for the resdients, nothing is a bother for them.
I, as my husbands wife, feel very happy and welcome to the Home to visit him each afternoon. Friends visiting Brian tell me how impressed they are with Wimbledon and I am more than happy that Brian is there.
