“Mum loves the friendly, caring and generous staff, nothing is too much trouble for them.” Resident’s daughter

“My greatest relief and certainty surrounding my mother and her long-term stay at Lyndale Villa is the reliable care and professional concern of staff, and the natural friendships woven among the other residents. Throughout the day, they sustain and uplift Mum, in the place she calls home

What's New
What's New

New Management. Mary Leighton is the new manager at Lyndale. Mary has been in the role for 8 months. Mary is Wairarapa born and bred. Mary has worked in the Age Care sector for many years and has owned and operated facilities in the Masterton area.

Over the past eight months there have been a number of changes:

We have rebranded and now have a new logo.

We have changed our vision and values to reflect our service provision.

We have focussed on training to achieve high performing, engaged and educated staff

The Manor Dementia Unit has increased in rooms , from 20 to 23 rooms. The three new rooms are non premium with a shared ensuite. All three rooms are large and bright. Two have courtyard outlooks.

Dianne Downie is our Clinical Lead at the Manor. Dianne started at the Manor in April 2018. Dianne brings  extensive knowledge and experience to the role. Dianne has worked in age care for many years overseas and in the Wairarapa.

Our staff at the Manor have all received specialist dementia training. All staff are carefully selected to care for our residents at the Manor.

This year we have a number of quality initiatives to improve the life of our residents.

Our Diversional therapy team have set up a Multi- Sensory room at the Manor. Soft textiles, familiar everyday objects, interesting things to smell and taste, sound and visual images all have an important part to play in the Sensory room.

We have set up LETS SKIP  ( LYNDALE ENCOURAGING TIES, SUPPORTING SENIORS AND KIDS IN PLAY) with the Cole street Preschool centre next door to the Manor. This programme provides an opportunity for our residents to feel valued and feel they are making a contribution to children.

Another project has been the setting up of the GHB SHOP OF MEMORIES. The shop Counter Drawer of Memories is designed to encourage conversation using objects.

On the 25/26 March a routine Surveillance audit was conducted at Lyndale. The Auditors were very complimentary of the work being undertaken to improve outcomes for Residents. Lyndale achieved no findings.

The Ministry of Health conducts regular audits of Residential Care Facilities. They can be found HERE.
