Special Features
Edale Home is a community project and non-profit organisation. The Trust Board consists of voluntary representatives from various community organisations. The Home operates on the extended family principle, with staff being encouraged to show the highest standards of care at all times. Carers are aware of, and respect each resident's individual needs, religious and cultural beliefs, and values and chosen lifestyle. Documentation of the resident's progress and orders relating to resident's care and functioning of the facility are regularly updated. Personal information regarding residents are kept confidental and used only in the care of the resident. The residents nutritional needs are met by home cooked meals that are appealing and satisfying, taking into account any medically prescribed diets, ethnic or religious restrictions or moderations. Dietary audits are carried out by an independent auditor on an annual basis. The residents have access to health professionals to enable them to maintain a stable health status and optimum wellbeing. The resident has the right to access to other professionals including legal, financial and spiritual advocacy or advice. |

Interests & Activities
Edale's Activities officer develops and co-ordinates a programme with activities 5 days per week. Activities include: Bowls, Newspaper reading, Exercises, Entertainment, Games, Big print books, Board games, Jigsaw, Interdenominational Church services, Email, Housie, Minigolf, Videos, Walking group with Sport Rangitikei, Rest Home Games, Crafts and other. Television aerials in the Rest Home have been updated to receive Freeview and are tuned to Prime and Trackside. Video, D.V.D. and Stereo system. Residents have access to other activities outside the Home. Examples of these are Bridge, Friendship Club, Happy Tours (Senior Citizen Group). Email/Internet is available for residents. |
