Special Features
We have a unique resthome, originally set up in 1970 by the Hamilton RSA and now owned and operated by the Selwyn Foundation. We have more men than ladies in residence, and all are very well catered for.

Ex- service persons and their dependents receive preferential admission, but non service persons are welcome at Selwyn Sunningdale Village.

Interests & Activities

We attend Age Concern activities, Alzheimers Society (courses available for staff, annual tea party fundraiser), receive Arthritis Society newsletter, talking books available from Blind Foundation, Parkinsons Society (available for appropriate residents, and for staff training), weekly visits to various RSAs (women's section visits residents with birthdays), 'Golden Oldies', exercise program on site twice per week, regular meetings of Stroke Group available (receive newsletter), regular gifts and visits from CWI and WDFF, volunteer drivers group for hospital appointments, regular cards games, crafts, email/internet access via Nurse Manager, entertainment (various music groups visit, two concerts per year with other rest homes, other entertainment arranged for special occasions), large established garden and grounds with outside seating, 'Happy Hour' on all public holidays and special occasions, wide selection of indoor games, regular changes of books available from Hamilton and Chartwell Library, outdoor games (boules, croquet), movies or videos when interest is sufficient, music (visiting groups, stereo in dining room used regularly), daily newspaper reading, regular quizzes, shopping visits to Chartwell, Sky TV, videos, numerous outings (clubs, places of interest, other rest homes).
