We the Management and Caregiving staff are committed and will provide a high standard of Quality care, with kindness, compassion, encouragement and commonsense in a secure and comfortable homelike family environment. The residents physical, emotional, spiritual and social wellbeing is always considered before all else. All our Resident's care is planned in consultation with the Resident and family and is being constantly reviewed.

Registered Nurse 8 Yes The Registered Nurse is employed for 8 hours a week and is available for on call.
Physiotherapist Yes Hours negotiable. We can access the Physiotherapist based at Musselburgh as required.

Own Social Worker Negotiable Via Dunedin Hospital
Diversional Therapist Yes The Owner/Manager is a qualified Diversional Therapist and is actively involved with the activities programme.
Activities Co-ordinator 35 Yes This is a very busy programme. Residents choose whether or not they want to participate in the offered programme. The programme is discussed at length at the resident's meeting held every 6 weeks. There are 2-3 bus outing per week.
Hairdresser Yes Hair sets are done every Wednesday morning. Perms and sets are also available when requested. The service is well used. We can also take you to your own hairdresser if you prefer.
Podiatrist Yes Monthly visits
Dietitian Yes ACE Food Services supply us with lovely nutritious meals. This is done in consultation with a dietition.

Rooms (Suit Couple) Yes We have several large rooms - one with a lovely view and own toilet. We also have 2 rooms that are joined with a toilet which would be suitable for a couple to use.
May Bring Own Furniture Yes You can bring what ever you like as long as the roooms is able to be cleaned and maintained with out clutter. Please feel free to make this your home.
Alcohol Permitted Yes We have a weekly happy hour which is enjoyed by all. Lemonade and orange juice is also served. This means that everyone can join in. If you want alcohol in your own room please speak to us first.

Policy for management of challenging behaviour Yes We have policies and procedures in place for such events. We minimise all risk. If you have any concerns about how issues may be resolved please speak to the Manager.
Confused Residents Yes From time to time an older person may become confused for a variety of reasons. These issues are dealt with at the time. Our staff are very understanding and have ongoing training to enure good practice.
Lounges/seating areas Yes There is one main lounge and a dining room. There is a seating area outside.
Outings Yes There are two specific outings per week and these are really varied. Planning for these outingsare done at the residents meetings. Families are always advised and invited to join us (this includes the luncheons).

Family orientated and owner operated. A real fun place to live. Inlet View Rest Home is overlooking Otago Harbour in the suburb of Anderson's Bay.

Interests And Activities

Our Activity Co-ordinator will help residents to be as active as possible within the community, enabling them to enjoy each and every day.

These activites include:

Exercising to music.

Recreational trips.

Outings: picnics, BBQ, shopping or visiting family and friends.

Music, concerts, housie, library, movies (we go our to the cinema) craft groups, Blind Foundation Support, Age Concern.

Interaction with other rest homes through sport and competitions.

Any community activity that your family member belongs to.

Daily newspaper reading.

Other specific activities include
Activities for children (kindergarten and school children visit and give concerts), visits to Age Concern for concerts, Blind Foundation (craft groups, singing and walking groups three times weekly), RSA (social time playing darts, pool and social drink Fridays, we go to Mosgiel RSA for meals and entertainment - no cost for residents), weekly art and cards activities, casino once a month for meals and 'have a go', communion each Sunday and church services three times weekly, craft group Thursday, entertainment (visiting groups), exercises each morning with Activity Coordinator, Happy Hour Thursdays 2-3pm, pool as requires, physio pool Wednesday afternoons, visits to the library or home bound service deliver books, meal options (dietician) outdoor games (we will take residents to their Bowling Clubs), movies when residents wish to go, newpaper reading each morning, quizzes and afternoon activities at the rest home, shopping at residents request, Sky TV, videos, outings often.

Details re Meals We contract ACE Food Services. They will provide meals according to our requirements this include BBQ's, picnics, special occasions/functions etc. Monthly residents meeting are held where amongst other things menues are planned. This means that our residents meals are of a very high standard with individual choices.

Public Transport 0.20 km Bus stop at the bottom of the hill. There is a very short walk from the bus to the rest home. If the walk is difficult for you we can arrange to meet you at the bottom of the hill to pick you up as long as we know in advance.
Shops 0.50 km Dairy, cafe and bar within short walking distance. Local community shopping centre with florist, hairdresser, fish'n chips shops (fresh fish and eat in if desired) podiatrist, health centre, beautician, bakery etc
Mall 5.00 km City centre
Parks 0.10 km Bayfield Park is a sports ground with a flat access walking track around the inlet. This is a lovely place to take your family member for a walk. Seating area also available.
Library 5.00 km Dunedin Public Library. The Book Bus stops here fortnightly. We also collect housebound books for our residents.
