The Gardens Rest Home and Hospital (formerly Mitchell Downs) is a homely, friendly place, with a family-like atmosphere. Our nurses and carers enjoy giving skilled care that focuses on each individual’s needs and preferences.
Our rest home includes studio apartments and single rooms, to help maximise privacy and independence. People often comment on our close family community, our chaplaincy service and the lovely environment that our beautiful gardens create. We are also unique in offering a whanau wing, Mai Moa, with care based on the traditional principals of Maori health. The Gardens is part of the Bupa group of rest homes, hospitals, retirement villages and personal medical alarms. We are a private company, and because we have no shareholders, we can invest what we earn to make improvements that help us provide better care. As part of the global Bupa group, we are able to provide superior clinical support, while focusing on helping each of our residents get the most out of each day.
