McEwan House Rest Home - McEwan House Resthome
Our Philosophy
We at McEwan House Rest Home aim to provide a very high standard of 24 hour person centred care in a small homely environment. We go the extra mile to ensure the wants, needs and aspirations of the older people living at McEwan House, can be realised irrespective of age or disability. It is an environment of freedom, empathy, optimism and respect, discreetly providing the individual support, that will maximise function and achievement.
Under a quality framework, we operate within the relevant legislative, regulatory and contractural requirements.
We support individual values, beliefs and cultures respecting the spirit of the original intention of the Treaty of Waitangi. Our care encourages independence, individuality, privacy, freedom of choice, freedom from discrimination, confidentiality, normality and dignity.

Special Features
McEwan House has a small homely atmosphere where staff wear a smart blue uniform. Staff are experienced caregivers who regularly update their skills and knowledge. Staff work regularly with the same people so that they can build up a mutual knowing and rapport. Time is taken to chat to people, take them for a walk around the grounds and support residents with their interests and household chores.
Residents are encouraged to mix, communicate and participate at their own choice. Where safe to do so, residents are free to help themselves to food and drink including fruit, at any time.
We have our own cook who provides excellent traditional meals. If anyone has a special fancy, she will gladly prepare it when possible. Bed times are optional. Breakfast is flexi between 7am and 8.30am and can be served in bed, in room or at dining table.
Visitors are encouraged and welcome at any time.
From a Management/Organisational point of view, we are certified with the Ministry of Health. We maintain all the regular audits required by the Ministry of Health, Fire Department and Building Inspectors. |
