Redwood is a combined retirement village, rest home, and age-related care hospital. The entire complex is situated on a large site which spans an area between two streets.
The village (independent living) consists of 46 units. There is a separate residential house (used as a social centre), which also has an internal swimming pool, kitchen and bathroom facilities and the office of the village executive. Activities: Those living here enjoy craft activities, indoor games, exercise groups, film afternoons, potluck lunches, guest speakers, and community barbecues just to mention a few. Security: Security comes in the form of patrols at night, personal alarm pendants, villas with smoke alarms, and there’s always a registered nurse on duty. We also make morning phone checks 7 days a week. Meals: On days when you’d rather leave the cooking to someone else, inexpensive home cooked lunches and dinners are available in the dining room. Other services and amenities include: - Emergency assistance at the push of a button - Home cleaning* - Washing and ironing* - Daily leisure and social activities* - Indoor heated swimming pool - Library - Social centre - Hairdresser and podiatrist* (*Charged on a user pays basis) Redwood is part of the Oceania Group, a Retirement Villages Association Member and operator of 58 retirement villages and care homes across New Zealand. NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.
In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet. The DHB Shared Services website provides additional information about this service.
