Sumner Bays Union Trust

Sumner Bays Union Trust offers a range of initiatives in order to build strong communities in Sumner and Redcliffs. A particular focus is on combating social isolation among seniors in this area.

Health and Disability Support Groups and Contacts No Our community development worker's role is broad ranging in approach and if a need for health and disability support groups to be developed is identified, we would certainly consider doing so.
Community Organisations Yes Sumner Bays Union Trust is a registered charitable trust.
Relationship and Counselling Services No Our community development worker will support those who need to attend such services although we do not provide these ourselves.
Fitness and Recreation Yes We provide opportunities for social interaction, an Art & Craft Market and we are working on providing community education opportunities. In addition, we have started a community garden in Redcliffs.
Church/Religious Group No We work in partnership with the Sumner Redcliffs Lyttelton Union Parish; we are, however, a separate secular entity in our own right.

Description
Coffee & Conversation group: meets every Thursday 10.30 am - 12 noon at the Redcliffs Union Church hall on Augusta Street. All welcome.

Sumner Art & Craft Market: Held on the first Saturday of the month, September - April, 10 am - 3 pm, Sumner Union Church facilities, corner of Nayland and Hardwicke Streets

Redcliffs Community Garden 'The Onion Patch': We meet regularly on Thursday mornings between 10 am and 12 pm. We are located behind the Union church facilities on Augusta Street. All welcome.

Sumner LunchBreak: This group meets on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month from 12noon - 1 pm at the Sumner Union Church lounge on Nayland Street. Bring your own lunch; tea and coffee provided. All welcome

Sumner Community Garden: This is now in development behind the Anglican Church on Wakefield Avenue. Contact our office for further information.

Other activities/projects are being planned for the future including computer classes, a Community Men's Shed, and craft groups/classes.
