Special Features
LOCATION:

Located in Stewart Street right opposite the Whakatane Public Hospital and approximately 1/2 kilometre from the local shopping area, Mary Shapley Village is a small yet sociable village with a warm, welcolming atmosphere where companionship is as important as one's privacy. Mary Shapley Village is located on the grounds of the Mary Shapley Health and Life Care rest home/hospital complex and, when complete will have 22 independent units and 11 serviced apartments.

YOUR HOME IS YOUR CASTLE:

Mary Shapley Village is designed to provide the key elements for independent living - dignity, companionship, security and care. All homes are built north facing with every consideration given to privacy. Homes are both one and two bedrooms, have an open plan lounge/dining area, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom/ensuite, most with wet area shower. All are complete with quality floor coverings, drapes, light fittings and the emergency call button for ongoing security. Some newer homes have internal access from the garage with automatic garage door openers.

“CARING IS OUR PASSION”

To know that a continuing care hospital is on-site and close at hand provides peace of mind for residents and their families . At Mary Shapley Village our rest home /hospital facility came first and, for some time has held the reputation as being the leading provider of residential care for the elderly in Whakatane and the surrounding area. The professional team of registered nurses, caregivers and support staff are on hand to provide care and support to residents in their care. Our staff are experienced with ongoing training on site in all aspects of aged care. The Mary Shapley Health & Lifecare complex has a homely, relaxed, family atmosphere where new friends are made every day and residents become part of one large family. For peace of mind, all rooms have a nurse call system and are totally sprinkler alarmed. Mealtimes are a highlight with our varied menus offering nutritious home cooked meals, a hot meal served at noon and tea at 5.30pm. Breakfast can be served in your bedroom and we cater for special diets. Our recreational programmes offer the opportunity for stimulation with a variety of both indoor and outdoor activities to choose from and any special interests can be added to the programmes.

BUPA Care Services provides continuing care to older New Zealanders with products and services to help them get the most out of life whether they’re living in their own homes or in residential care.
We are a major player in New Zealand’s medical alarm business through BUPA Personal Medical Alarms. We also sell life care products and offer support to older people living at home through our companionship and day care programmes.
We are also one of New Zealand’s largest private owner/operator of rest homes and hospitals. We are building independent units and serviced apartments close to our rest homes and hospitals to create ‘care villages’ where people can live independently, but with practical help and care available whenever they need it.

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (hereafter referred to as The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who buy into a retirement village. If you intend to purchase you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Further information about Retirement Villages is available in the section 'Frequent Questions'. Some Retirement Villages are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please do your homework.

In some villages there may be some units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
