Nursing Care DetailsOur seven townhouses enjoy a small village atmosphere and residents are warmly welcomed into Edith Cavell for activities and meals if required.

There is a call bell linked directly to our nurses for emergencies and light nursing duties can be undertaken ensuring you can live independently whilst still having peace of mind.


All townhouses have underfloor heating are warm and secure with friendly neighbours and helpful care close at hand.

Newsletter Yes We have a resident newsletter that is published monthly.
Outings Yes Linked in with outings from our home and hospital.
Gardens Yes Each of our townhouses has a small garden that you may personalise with the assistance of our gardener Peter. We are proud of our grounds and enjoy keeping them well presented.
Other details Yes Our townhouses have quality finishes and are homely whilst being part of a care facility. As a resident of Edith Cavell village you can relax knowing that all levels of care are available to you and you only need to ask if the need arises.

Special Features
Edith Cavell townhouses are part of the Sumner seaside community.

There is public transport at the door and the beach is 400m walking distance with a lovely cafe right on the seaside promenade.

Living in Sumner means you have the best of both worlds, being close to the city and a major hospital but also being in a village atmosphere with rural environs.

The sea air is good for everyone and to wake to a big clear sky in the morning and walk the beach before coffee is part of the secret that is Sumner

Shops 1.00 km You can walk, bus or drive to the friendly village. Supervalue supermarket, cafes, hotels, TAB, fish and chip shops, clothing stores, wine shop , hairdressers and even a sushi shop means you never need to leave Sumner.
Mall 6.00 km Eastgate is the closest mall and in Ferrymead there is an increasing number of specialist shops in the thriving outside mall environment.
Parks 0.50 km Sumner enjoys many small parks with Scarborough Park at the beach being a drawcard for the greater Christchurch community at the weekends to St Leonards Square where all the local rugby and cricket games are played.
