Special Features
Whare Aroha was accredited in 1997 by the NZ Council on Health Care Standards, now Quality Health New Zealand, for our commitment to standards and continuous quality improvement in care, service and safety. We were re-accredited in 2000 & 2003 being the only residential facility in Rotorua to achieve an unbroken record of accreditation. We are also the first residential facility in Rotorua to achieve mandatory Ministry of Health Certification.

ENVIRONMENT
Whare Aroha is situated near the heart of Rotorua City within easy walking distance of the lakefront, Government Gardens, RSA and city focus.

Since it was established in 1989, Whare Aroha has enjoyed strong community involvement. Service groups, churches, schools and individual visitors are a valued part of life at Whare Aroha.

Within a warm, homely and stimulating enviornment we aim to make life as normal and satisfying as possible. The needs of the individual are our first concern.

FACILITIES AND SERVICES
Whare Aroha Hospital looks after people with severe physical or mental disabilities, from young adults to senior citizens. Our Rest Home is for those residents who require support but are not in need of hospital care. Care is usually long term but short term family relief care is also provided. Our special care unit is for those residents who suffer from dementia. We also provide short term care for terminally ill patients.
