Special Features
Tarahill Resthome is a purpose built Resthome in Te Awamutu, and was named after the ‘Hill of Tara’ in Ireland where the ancient Kings of Ireland were crowned.

Tarahill was built in 1986,and is a level north facing home that gets the all day sun, looking across the surrounding farmland - the proprietors living quarters are attached and is 2 kilometres south of Te Awamutu. Tarahill won the ‘Garden of the Year’ award for the Best Resthome or Retirement Village in 2004 by the Keep Te Awamutu Beautiful Society.

Tarahill Resthome is privately owned by Heather and Gordon Lydford - Heather has been Nurse Manager at Tarahill since 1996. Tarahill gained Certification for three years in 2010 and had a spot audit carried out in August 2011 which was passed with only 2 partial attained sector standards

We are fortunate to have an Activities Co- Ordinator who is highly motivated and encorporates each resident's individual hobbies & needs into their daily activities - she has won many awards for her creative game activities at the annual Resthome Games - Dee is presently working at completing her certificate in Diversional Therapy.
