Redwood Home and Hospital is a homely, friendly place with a strong community spirit and a reputation for skilled, Wholehearted Care.

Redwood Home and Hospital offers comfortable living, companionship and care. We're located within easy walking distance to Te Ngae shopping centre and close to public transport and the Rotorua International Airport.

We have beautiful, expansive grounds, sheltered courtyards and a fully functional chapel that provides Sunday services for residents and their guests.

Day Care Yes Day Care operates Monday - Friday with a pick up and drop off service by our own disability van. Day Care clients are encouraged to participate in a varied and stimulating programme designed to meet their individual needs.
Short Term Care e.g. Carer Support, Respite Care Yes Respite Care / Carer Support facilities are available for those requiring short term or long term stays.
Primary Health Funded Short Term Care Yes Residents may have their meals in their own rooms or attend dining rooms. The main meal is served at midday with substantial evening meal. Supper is served at 7 p.m.

Interests And Activities

Activity programme,a selection of varied hobbies and crafts are always available in the Activites Room.

Big print books - these are readily available in our large library which consists of large print and normal print books. A wide selection of books covering all categories are easily accessible. The Rotorua Public Mobile Library also visits Redwood on a fortnightly basis.

Blind Foundation - Field Officers from the Blind Foundation visit residents requiring this service.

Board games - numerous board games are accessible in the activities room.

Bowls - Two raised bowling tables are situated in the games room. Residents are free to play at their leisure. Visiting groups e.g. Whare Aroha and Fenton Park, visit Redwood regularly to compete against our residents.

Breakfast in bed - Residents may have their meals in their rooms or attend the dining rooms.

Canine friends - There is a much loved visiting dog onsite and other visiting animals are encouraged.

Cards - various gard games are played by many residents including 500.

Craft - the activites room is equipped with sewing machine, hand looms, poker work, and numerous other craft materials are available.

Chapel - The Chapel with it's six lovely stained glass windows is frequently used - weekly communion and bible study is held.

Cooking - takes place in the activities room each Tuesday.

Email - this facility is available from Reception. Families are encourged to use this service. Redwood's email address is redwood@redwood.org.nz

Entertainment - is held in our main lounge. A regular group attends on Friday mornings for sing-a-long. Schools, Kindergarten's and cultural gorups and many other organisations also visit.

Exercises - are held Monday and alternate Wednesdays in the Activities room.

Fax - this service is available to all residents - Fax Number 07 349 7169.

Games - a variety of games are available or held in the activities room. There are planned games with group participation.

Garden - the grounds of Redwood are very spacious with numerous gardens for everyone to enjoy. A tranquil water garden is situated outside the Physiotherapy room with bench seating and a small gazebo.

Happy Hour - The weekly happy hour is very well attended by residents on Momday afternoons.

Housie - another weekly event of Wednesady's in the activities room.

Interdenominational - Redwood is an Interdenominational facility with it's own Chapel.

Jigsaw - many jigsaws are available from the activities room and there is always one on the go for anyone to come along and pick up the peices.

Library - a very full and comprehensive library is open at all times for everyone's enjoyment. Large print books as well as normal reading are available.

Meal choices - a wide variety of meals are served and any special or individual needs are met.

Minibus - a disability van is used for outings, pick up and delivery of Day Centre clients.

Music - Sing a longs are a regular feature and music is incorporated into most activities.

Newspaper reading - Daily activity with activities staff

Quizzes - another activity which is very popular among residents.

Religious services - bible study and communion take place each week.

Roses - the front entrance and driveway into Redwood Lodge is planted in beautiful rose beds.

Shopping - arrangements can be made to take people shopping to local shopping centre or into the city.

Videos - are screened periodically in the main lounge or the activities room.

Visitors - are welcome any time of the day and evening.
