| Our Rest Home is set in lovely rose gardens with abundant birdlife near Whangarei's town centre.
We encourge family style living with four small lodges each with their own communial areas; residents socialise with their neighbouring lodges. Excellent professional and caring staff. |

Activity programme, RSA ( Residents who are returned Service people are visited and are able to visit the RSA on a regular basis. We will transport as required),Northern Advocate is delivered daily to all Lodges to keep Residents informed of World and Local news., Age Concern is active in Whangarei and is responsible for updating our Residents on what is happening and keeping our staff well trained in Care of our Residents., Alzheimer's Society visits those who suffer from Alzheimers and offer regular newsletters to keep their families and staff up with information., BBQ is on offer occassionally in Summer months to help encourage the mixing of the Residents from different Lodges and to create a social atmosphere. , Big print books are available from our local Library at Regular intervals or more often if required., Bingo is one of the favourites of the Residents activities., Board games, Bowls and Cards are another often participated in activity., Breakfast in bed is an option for every resident, not only when they are feeling poorly. The residents are encouraged to keep attending their Church should they wish to when they first come to reside with us. There is also Communion given on a regular basis for those wishing to partake., Companion Club is on a Monday and a Wednesday for all who would like to attend. There is a small charge for the hot lunch which is provided. Concerts feature at Morningview Village several times a year and are usually local singing groups such as the Barbershop Quartet.Craft work is very popular here both with the residents and staff. Their handiwork is on display and is available for purchase by families and visitors.A Digital camera is used to take the Residents photos on admission for files. Families are able to view these and request copies as needed.Email is available for both receiving and sending messages through the Office during working hours.Exercises are part of the activities and it is not uncommon to see a group dancing to the Older type music, as well as chair bound exercises.A Fax is often used as a means of communication for some of our residents and is available 24 hours per day.Our Staff are also keen to do Flower arranging as there is an ample supply of Roses from the grounds during the Rose season. These adorn all the Tables in the Lodges. Happy Hour is held every week and is a great time to socialise and intermingle. Best attire please!

| Details re Meals | We work on a six week cyclic menu for both Summer and Winter. We have two experienced cooks who will adapt meals to individual residents preferences as per their care plans. Residents LOVE the food and look forward to every meal. The following examples are taken from a weekly summer menu: Beverages: Tea coffee, milo, orange juice, complan, Ensure as requested. Spreads: Marmalade, jam, vegemite, peanut butter, honey and diabetic spreads as required. A selection of seasonal fruit is offered fresh daily. Tuesday Breakfast – Apple/Prune Bran mix Morning Tea – Cheese and parsley scones Midday Lunch – Hot Pickled Pork, mashed potatoes, spring vegetables, carrots/celery/onion/parsnip seasoned and mashed. Variations – Zucchini Crusted Pizza Afternoon tea – Afghan biscuits Evening dinner – Potato/onion/spaghetti bake on toast. Dessert – German apple shortcake Thursday Breakfast – Poached or scrambled eggs Morning Tea – Asparagus rolls Midday Lunch – Lamb Steaks, creamed potatoes, glazed minted carrots, shredded cabbage. Variations – Nutty carrot loaf Afternoon tea – Fruit cake slice Evening dinner – Smoked fish pasta bake and grilled tomatoes. Dessert – Ginger and pear upside down cake We are fortunate enough to come into the top 15%OF well nourished residentsin care for New Zealand. | |
