We encourage our Resident’s family, friends and members of our community to share the happiness and well-being of the Residents and with respect to their capabilities, let them be themselves, within a safe, secure and happy environment. |

SOME OF OUR SPECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE: A number of our Residents have lived in the Inglewood area for many years so they have established strong links within the community. Likewise as a community based facility we also have considerable input from local people who frequently visit. This interaction of local people creates a sense of social connectedness. We support our residents to retain as much independence as possible and to be involved as much as they wish in the day to day activities in the home. This includes helping out with small, safe tasks such as folding clothes, sweeping up leaves, assisting in the 'hot house', putting dishes away etc. The residents who choose to do these things really enjoy the sense of participation that this gives them. Marinoto is spacious yet homely. Many of the living spaces look like one might expect in a large country home. The well-being , both emotionally and physically, of the resident's family/whanau, is always of paramount concern to the Staff and Management. We try to make relatives and friends of the Resident as comfortable as we can. Family may assist in the care of their relative if they wish to. BRIEF HISTORY OF MARINOTO HOME In 1970 Marinoto was purchased from the Taranaki Hospital Board by the Ingelwood Welfare Society Incorporated. The Society is controlled by an unpaid Executive committee of six. Mr V Valintine was the founder of Marinoto and headed the committee for a good many years. The Inglewood Welfare Society is a non-profit making organisation. All money received is ‘ploughed back’ into Marinoto. Originally Marinoto was a maternity home. It was converted into a Stage 1 Home. For 21 years the Home operated under a Manager and staff. As it became necessary to provide greater care for more dependant elderly people, the home was extensively upgraded around 1991 and a Stage 2 license obtained. In December 1992 Jenny Pratt took over the lease of Marinoto. The home operates successfully under these terms and Jenny liaises with the committee with whom she shares an excellent working relationship. Together they all continue to make regular improvements to Marinoto and all strive to make it a better place. Ideally a home away from home offering 24 hr care to our elderly people in and around Ingelwood. The Inglewood Welfare Society owns the building and is responsible for the maintenance on the outside of the building. If for some reason you may want to contact the Society you may do so by phoning the Secretary: Mr Stuart Waite, Charted Accountant at Waite & Blackbourn, 94 Rata Street, Inglewood Phone (06) 756 7484 TRIAL PERIOD You can discuss a settling in period with the manager. We would like to welcome you to our Rest Home where we aim to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. |
