Healthcare Assistants/Caregivers Yes Our caregivers are well trained in eldercare and work extremely hard to ensure each resident receives quality and loving care. Two of the staff have received Rotary awards for excellence in their workplace.
Physiotherapist Yes A private or Taupo Hospital physiotherapist can be arranged to visit to provide physiotherapy needs of residents.
Occupational Therapist Yes If funding is agreed by NASC, or may be provided by Taupo Hospital in some cases.
Diversional Therapist Yes Activities are organised to meet the requirements and capabilities of the resident. Each resident has an activity assessment and activity programme developed by the RN and DT.
Activities Co-ordinator Yes Registered Nurse assists the DT in organising the twice weekly programme to ensure if resident needs change, so does the programme.
Hairdresser Yes Weekly for sets and monthy for cuts and as required.
Podiatrist Yes Every three months or when needed, Registered Nurse, Sandy will organise these visits. Prices have been negotiated with podiatrist to keep this care accessable to residents. Monthly foot/nail care is provided to residents by Registeted Nurse.
Dietitian Yes All menus checked by our Dietitian. We are able to cater for food dislikes/likes to meet residents requests and any food issues relating to health or religion.
Kaumatua Negotiable We have contacts for local iwi and will help make contact for you if required.
Chaplain/Spiritual Advisor Yes Monthly non-demoninational services provided in Rest Home. Chaplain or Priest available at resident request.
Other Personnel Yes Aministration Manager, Mick, is on site everyday, available for families to speak to. He does the maintenence and the 'business' side of the home. discussion. Peter is the gardener and is always willing to allow residents to assist or watch him work.

Special Features
We are a family owned and operated rest home. Sandy, the owner/nurse manager is a trained RN and is on site or on call 7 days a week - except when she is on holiday!
We are a small facility where everyone is treated like family.
Our residents say our food is the best in town, and we agree, because we don't have a cook, we all cook for you! We take great pride in our cooking, your meals will taste and look great.
We work with you to maintain and impove your mobility and standard of life.
Family is very important here and we include them (if you wish) in your care and planning.
We also encourage you to maintain your relationship with your own GP, should you wish - though we are happy to refer you to our house doctor.

Details re Meals Our main meal is at lunch time - for example, butter chicken, with fresh local vegetables, roast lamb, roast beef, roast turkey all feature on our menus. We will cater for specific tastes, so if you don't like something we will make you an alternative. Evening meal is something lighter, scrambled eggs, home-made soups, quiche, frittata and a platter of fresh fruit. Breakfast is in bed if you wish or in the dining room. This is toast, cereal, porridge and tea or milo.
