Welcome to Hillview. We are a rest home and hospital set up to meet the needs of the elderly within our community. Allowing people the opportunity to enjoy time with their families and friends and remain connected to the community, while we meet their daily needs, is what we are here for.

Care is provided by our whole team from the front desk to the kitchen and nursing staff. We aim to provide an interesting activities programme that caters for all our residents different interests and needs and also makes our home inviting and special to those whose care we have been entrusted with.

Special Features
Hillview is a community owned and run by a community trust. Friends of Hillview, provide a formal fundraising and volunteer support network. They make a valuable contribution both financially and volunteer time to the Home. The Board bring their professional skills and local knowledge of the community’s needs to their Governance role.

Hillview appreciates the supportive community that it belongs to. People bring in their homegrown produce, their time and their skills to make the residents feel special and connected to the community.

Interests & Activities

Providing interested and varied activities which cater range of abilities within Hillview, is the underpinning theme to the Activities Programme. For active residents, yoga and exercise programmes are provided. For less mobile residents, music, massage and outdoor time is provided. Having a comprehensive programme which benefits all residents is valued.
• Group activities include items like: reading group where books are read aloud, playing cards, quizzes and wood work
• Individual activities cater for more specialist interests like: crafts, regular happy hour with special guest musicians singers and entertainers
• Special events like Melbourne Cup, Valentine’s Day, St Patrick’s Day and Olympics provide the opportunity to have themed meals, visitors and music.
The Activities programme integrates formal activities with the care provided and the menu, so residents can derive interest on all levels

Details re Meals Our residents are enjoy fresh food that is in season. A motivated kitchen team provide an interesting menu that combines a variety of new meals like butter chicken with the old favourites like roasts. Special dietary needs and personal preferences are catered for.
Staffing Details Staffing details Having good staffing levels is recognized as being important at Hillview. There is a registered nurse on site 24/7 and an enrolled nurse daily. The Te Kuiti Medical Centre provides good continuity of medical care with a long standing relationship between the doctors and the Home. The team are committed to providing kind and empathic care and an interesting environment. Hillview is committed to providing ongoing training to all of its team. Careerforce training assists all untrained staff to meet care standards and provides knowledge and education. The nurses are part of the professional development programme and household staff are provided with ongoing training.
