Physiotherapist Yes Jill our Physiotherapist provides a valuable service to our Residents one-day a week. All Residents are assessed following admission for their Physiotherapy needs. There is also a physio aid here 3 mornings a week.
Occupational Therapist Yes Ashgrove House use the services of the Community Occupational Therapist based at The Princess Margaret Hospital and from Therapy Professionals
Own Social Worker Yes Tamara Forbes our Community Liason Officer is available four days a week to assist Residents and their families to achieve a smooth transition into the rest home.
Activities Co-ordinator Yes Our activities co-ordinator organises a full and varied monthly calendar.
Hairdresser Yes Elizabeth our hairdresser is here every Tuesday and Wednesday.
Podiatrist Yes Our Podiatrist is at Ashgrove House every three weeks.
Dietitian Yes Julian Jensen co-ordinates the summer and winter menus. The menus cover a five-week cycle and offer a delicious and varied range of meals. Special dietary needs are catered for.
Accredited Visitors Yes Can be arranged if required. This is taken care of on an individual by individual basis.
Kaumatua Yes If a visit from a Kaumatua is requested by a Resident it can be arranged
Chaplain/Spiritual Advisor Yes Church services are held at Ashgrove House every Friday morning. The services alternate on a weekly roster conducted by visiting Ministers, Laypreachers and Priests.
Other Personnel Yes Lorraine, our manicurist comes every three weeks to look after the fingernails of any resident requiring this service.

Special Features
Ashgrove House is only a short walk to the Heathcote river which our River Lounge overlooks.

We also have beautiful grounds which our gardeners keep in grand order.

Interests And Activities

Our Activity programme is comprehensive with something for everyone.
From one on one hand massage to big bus outings with a driver for trips out for afternoon tea with the Rakaia or Ashley Gorge being favourite stops.

Exercises, games, crafts, sing-a-longs, BBQ lunches are all regular activities.

Details re Meals Breakfast in served from 7.45 am, Lunch is served at 12 noon, the main meal is served at 5 p.m. and supper from 7.30 p.m. Morning tea is served at 10 a.m. and afternoon tea at 3 p.m. The residents are able to help themselves to a “cuppa” at anytime of the day by using the tea and coffee facilitaties in the River Lounge.
Staffing Details General Staffing and Rosters We have a Registered Nurse who provides cover Monday to Friday and is on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Our experienced Caregivers carry out their duties with care and compassion.
Associated Complexes We are a part of the BUPA Care Services Group of facilities. BUPA are specialised providers of aged care services throughout New Zealand.
Fees Details/Fees Do Not Include A seperate fee schedule can be sent to you, if you request it. Fees Do Not Include Podiatry except where requested by GP, hairdressing, private phone charges, Optical Services, Dental Services, Audiology Services, Dry Cleaning, Legal and Financial Services. These things are made clear in our information booklet which is available upon request.
