Registered Nurse 40 Yes Our Registered Nurse is also the Manager, and takes a keen interest in the running of the Home and the overall welfare of each resident here. She is extremely "hands-on" and gets to know residents and their families very well.
Enrolled Nurse Yes We have 3 Enrolled Nurses who bring a wealth of experience to Brooklands Home. They are family oriented women who have contributed to Brooklands life for over 20 years, and are as committed to each resident as one of their own family members.
Physiotherapist Yes Physiotherapy is available from Taranaki Base Hospital as required. Activity classes are held throughout the week in the lounge as well to keep everyone in peak physical health.
Occupational Therapist Yes We work closely with the Occupational Therapy Department at Taranaki Base Hospital as needed.
Hairdresser Yes The Hairdresser visits every Friday. Prices are available on request.
Podiatrist Negotiable The Podiatrist visits approximately every 6 weeks and the cost is met by the resident, unless prescribed by the GP.

Phone Access In Own Room Yes Residents have access to a telephone in the dining room & to the mobile phone. You are welcome to have your own personal phone installed, however all costs related to personal phone must be met by the resident or family.
Resident can adjust heating in own room No Brooklands has gas heating throughout the public areas of the Rest Home and fixed heating in the residents rooms and bathrooms. We ask residents to advise us if they feel cold so that we can address this.

Brooklands home, a purpose built facility is 'U' shaped in design. This has created an 'easy living' floor plan so that residents only have short distances to walk to living areas and ammenitites. A centrally located outdoor deck is frequently used and is popular with staff and residents alike.

Our Recreational Therapy programme is provided Monday - Friday. This programme includes individual and group activities, has creative and intellectual components and includes regular supervised outings and visits from a variety of entertainers. Examples of our interests and activities include:

Details re Meals Breakfast 8am, Morning Tea 10am, Lunch/Hot Dinner 12MD, Afternoon Tea 2.30pm Tea 5pm, Supper 7.30pm. Breakfast may be served in rooms , but we encourage residents to have other meals in the Dining Room where possible. Cultural or spititual food preferences, food dislikes or any allergy at food are catered for.
Staffing Details All residents may choose to be attended by a General Practitioner of their own choice. Medical care is provided after hours. We have 24 hours 7 days a week medical cover. The aim of Brooklands Rest Home is to strive to provide an excellent service. To assist us to achieve this we have a continuous quality improvement programme, which operates in every service we provide - Management, Care, Food, Housekeeping, Laundry and Environmental. To measure our success in achieving our quality standards, we carry out audits and satisfaction surverys on a regular, planned basis.
