There are 30 rest home beds at Atawhai and a Registered Nurse in on duty 24 hours a day. Activities for residents range from wheel chair walkers to housie players, to entertainment from community groups, to regular church services. There is a mini-bus for for twice weekly shopping trips and for outings. The local village is 3 blocks away and so the library, shops, banks and the post office are all close to hand. | Atawhai rest home comprises of the Chesterhope Wing, which houses 30 private rooms, beautifully appointed and with their own ensuites. All rooms look out onto gardens and courtyards. There are fantastic lounges and conservatories and smaller alcoves where one can sit with a friend and family and enjoy the sunshine and outlook.
Interesting activites and recreational programmes, along with regular contact with the wider community, play an important role in the wellbeing of our residents. Life at Atawhai features outings in our purpose built mini-bus. A full programme of in-house activites is also offered, creating supportive and varied recreational opportunities for each individual. These include walking and fitness groups, games groups, singing and craft groups. Atawhai also enjoys visits from the volunteer library service, visiting entertainers, and close contact with the University if the Third Age and Senior Net which has a computer room on site. |
