| OUR SETTING
Aria Bay Retirement Village Care Facility and Apartments are situated a block back from the beach and the entire facility backs on to a native bush reserve. Our landscaped grounds and gardens feature two sheltered courtyards where residents can sit and enjoy the sun all day. This is the Residents Home - the Home belongs to them - it is like living with a large family. PHILOSOPHY A study of the basic truths and principles and moral of life. An understanding of these in relation to the older people in our Residential Home. 1. RESIDENTS (i) To recognize that our Residents have mental, cultural, physical, spiritual and emotional needs which we can endeavour to help them meet. (ii) To nurture their independence and encourage them to lead as full a life as possible in spite of their disability. (iii) To help them and their families to come to understand and accept their limitations. 2. STAFF (i) To recognize that each staff member is a unique human being who brings his/her own unique contribution to the life of the Home. (ii) To nurture love and respect for each other (iii) To endeavour to acquire the necessary knowledge, attitudes and skills for the effective performance of his/her duties in the Home. SAFETY & SECURITY Aria Bay Retirement Village provides superb support / care facilities with 24-hour emergency assistance at the push of a button. Visitors are welcome at any time, but it is preferable that meal time is uninterrupted. If a resident leaves the rest home at any time we ask that they sign the Resident’s Register at the front desk. It is important to do so and on return. This is necessary in case of fire or any other emergency. In the evening after doors have been locked, we ask those entering or leaving to notify a Staff member so that the doors can be secured. Residents may bring in Electric Blankets, Television and Radio but they must have a new safety certificate from a power authority, and this must be renewed on an annual basis, for safety and insurance purposes. We would prefer that Residents did not keep a large amount of cash in their rooms. A lockable draw can be fitted to your bedside cabinet for valuables, but we are happy to keep your cash locked in the safe in the office. This is available between 9.00am – 5pm Monday to Friday. For those Residents not able to handle money, hairdressing and other sundry accounts can be charged and the Rest Home will bill your agent on a monthly basis. We have regular fire evacuations / drills. They are for the safety of residents and we ask them to co-operate and obey the instructions of our Staff and the Fire Officers. RIGHTS & RESPONSIBILITIES We have a comprehensive 'Code of Residents' Rights and Responsibilities' It is included in the information pack for all new residents and is displayed in the front foyer. At Aria Bay we believe that all people should have access to independent Advocacy Services as a basic right. Available advocates are: Age Concern (09) 489 4975, Residential Care NZ Inc (04) 499 4156, Ministry of Health (04) 496 2000, Advocate for the Older Person (09) 373 3556 COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE You or your family may wish to speak or write directly to the Village Manager about any concern or complaint. You may write your complaints and leave them in the Suggestion box at Reception to be passed onto the Manager. You may correspond directly with the Operations Manager, Aria Villages & Beechworth Home and Hospital, P.O. Box 26514 Epsom or phone 021 635 279 or 09623405. Unless issued with anonymity, all complaints will be addressed within 48 hours, to you stating: i) The problem ii) The procedure for addressing the problem iii) The preferred outcome iv) The time frame within which the issue will be resolved to mutual satisfaction. If your complaint involves a clinical matter independent advocacy may be sought. The above procedure does not prejudice your right to contact your Social Worker, Health Professional, any Advocacy Service or the Commissioner of Health on any matter concerning you or your Health care, where the Code of Health Consumer Rights have been breached. |
