Special Features
RESPITE PROGRAM

Waimarie hosts an active Respite Program which aims to accommodate varying individual needs over a one-off or regular respite period.

Respite residents and their families are encouraged to visit the facility ahead of the respite period to develop familiarity with the accommodation layout, as well as outline specific requirements and considerations for staff to plan, implement and monitor during the intended stay.

Upon arrival, residents are introduced to their assigned Registered Nurse, Primary Carer and Diversional Therapist, who will be their primary care providers. A short-term care plan is prepared, and a medical examination is completed.

The allocation of permanent care staff to residents facilitates the rapid settling-in experience at Waimarie, and enhances the support relationship with visiting family and friends.

Upon departure, respite residents, their families and the Respite Program Coordinator convene to review the stay at Waimarie, targeting improvement opportunities for future Respite Program stays.
