A SPECIALIST DEMENTIA CARE UNIT FOR THE MANAWATU/FEILDING DISTRICT - OUR FOCUS IS DEMENTIA CARE

Wimbledom Villa feels it is priviliged to be able to offer a SPECIALIST DEMENTIA CARE FACILITY in a homely type environment with staff trained to a high standard. The facility is based on "Eden Care" principles; a philosophy encouraging one's 'spark of life'.

We have been offering Rest Home services in Feilding(just 10-15 minutes drive from Palmerston North ) for over 20 years.
In 2010 we decided to specialise in only Dementia Care. By specialising only in Dementia care we believe our staff, and the care they are able to deliver is of the highest quality.
We offer a very safe and secure environment but residents also have the freedom to come and go indoors and outdoors as they please and enjoy our lovely gardens and surroundings.

We have a highly experienced Clinical Nurse Manager and two experienced Registered Nurses.

We offer an excellent activities programme for all our residents.

Most of the home has been purpose built and is well furbished, with rooms which tend to be larger than many others available. The original homestead built in the 1880's has been retained.

We have 25 bedrooms and the home is divided into 2 distinct areas.

An information pack is available from the home and we invite anyone considering Dementia Care for their loved one to come and vist us as part of their decison making process.

Interests & Activities

Our residents have a variety of interests, which we encourage. Because we are a smaller rest home we are able to focus more on individual preferences. Several residents are keen walkers and we have a walking group that go out daily (weather dependent). Some of our residents enjoy gardening and in conjunction with the Diversional Therapist have created their own vege garden, whilst others enjoy entertainment and outings. Many of the activities and interests revolve around the 'comings and goings' of the household.

Our Home's van is put to use at least twice a week for outings. We try to accommodate everyone's wishes regarding where they would like to travel. In the warmer weather we often go on a day trip and take a picnic which our residents really enjoy.

What's New

We have recently introduced 'FUN-TASTIC FRIDAYS'.  We have a theme day every Friday for our residents plus people in the community with Dementia. For those that are in the community this is a FREE service we are providing if you would like to come along and share the day with us. For the carer it can provide a well deserved break and some 'time out' for yourself while knowing that your loved one is in a safe and secure environment having lots of fun.

Our Diversional Therapist, Carol,  plans a different theme each week ranging from Lamb & Calf Days, Multi-Culture Days,Rock n Roll, BBQ, Irish entertainment to name but a few. These are greatly enjoyed by all including the families of our residents who come along.

If you have a loved one at home with Dementia and you are interested in in our 'FREE FUN-TASTIC FRIDAYS'  please contact Johanne, the Manager, for more details on 06 323 4637
