Enliven Otago (Presbyterian Support Otago)

Presbyterian Support Otago’s home support service in Dunedin, Taieri,Clutha and Central Otago is called Enliven Positive Ageing Services.

The Enliven philosophy of care is leading the way nationally in providing older people with home-based support when, how and where they want it.

“There have been a lot of changes in the aged care sector in recent years, giving New Zealanders more choices about the way they spend their older years and we are proud to have been pioneers in this area,” PSO Chief Executive Gillian Bremner said.

“Enliven is not just about ‘helping’ clients or doing things for them; it is about supporting them to work towards specific goals, using those goals and clients’ own determination to maintain control of their own destiny.
“The service is individually tailored to take into account not only practical day-to-day needs, but the emotional support and encouragement that can make such a difference to an older person, especially if they live alone and feel socially isolated,” Mrs Bremner added.

It's about maintaining relationships with family and friends, and maintaining a sense of contribution and satisfaction in what you do.

The two Enliven activity groups help do that.
