Physiotherapist 15 Yes Contracted therapist, also undertakes staff training in Manual Handling. Assisi also has 2Physiotherapy Assistants, Monday to Friday for 40 hours each week.These positions are shared with the hospital

Diversional Therapist 80 Yes Three therapists cover the facility 6 days per week.Two have completed National certificate in Diversional Therapy,the third is working towards this qualification.

Interests & Activities

Activity Programme: Assisi has a strong activity & outings programme, utilising volunteers as much as possible. We welcome family members to assist with activities.

Bingo is played weekly and enjoyed by many of the residents.

Bowls: Residents play for a trophy regularily. Target bowls is also played regularily.

Breakfast in bed: Most residents have breakfast in bed / in their rooms.

Chapel: We have a large Chapel on site. We have a Catholic Mass 3 times per week, and an ecumenical service each Wednesday. Communion services are held on Tuesday & Friday.

Entertainment: Assisi has various groups entertaining on a regular basis, providing a range of entertainment, including music.

Exercises: Exercise to Music is a daily Monday to Friday programme with the Physiotherapy Assistants.

Garden: Assisi is situated in 3 acres of flat, park like grounds with over 500 roses.

Big print books- are available in our library. A volunteer Librarian also sources books from the local library.

Board games are played on a regular basis, scrabble, chess and card games are also played when we have sufficient numbers.

A cooking group meets regularily, recent projects have been pikelets; jam & pickle making.

Electric beds- Most of the rooms have electric beds.

Email- our office staff are happy to receive emails for residents, limited capacilty to send emails.

The Physiotherapy Assistants run a gym programme each weekday morning for selected residents,

A Pianist visit weekly,

Sky TV-residents are welcome to obtain sky TV at their own cost. Please discuss with the CEO prior to organising sky installation.

Television- with the advent of digital reception in 2012 (December), Atawhai Assisi is in the process of upgrading our systems to be totally digital.

Details re Meals A continental breakfast is served every morning. The main meal is in the evening; a light midday meal includes soup.
Staffing Details The Resthome has a registered nurse on morning duty daily and enrolled nurses on every evening. The Hospital has 24 hour / 7 day a week registered nursing cover who are available to Resthome staff in emergencies. Caregiver ratio's are based on care levels.
