| PURPOSE:
To provide support and information for adults 16 years upwards who experience difficulty communicating effectively because of hearing impairment. SERVICES: A free service funded by the Ministry of Health. Services include: * Hearing evaluation – hearing tests, needs assessment, information on options available * Communications skills – learning ways of improving communication in family, work, social situations. * Hearing device management - to gain optimum benefit from hearing aids. * Consumer information and advice. * Trial/demonstration of equipment to assist with day to day living(e.g. telephones, television). * Practical advice and help for those with tinnitus (ringing noises in the ears) * Community education and awareness on the management and prevention of hearing loss.
