Hire/Lease Yes Many people can get a Bupa personal medical alarm fully funded through Work and Income New Zealand. Our Health Care Field Officers can provide you with more information on this and will even help you to fill out the forms.
Purchase Yes Another option for those who do not qualify for funding through a government allowance is to purchase the alarm and pay a reduced weekly fee to cover monitoring. One of our field officers can discuss this option further with you.

Description
The alarm unit connects to your telephone line and contains a powerful loudspeaker and sensitive microphone, so we can be in two-way voice communication with you from wherever you are in the house or garden.

Advanced range of alarms

Our alarms are not only activated by pushing buttons. They can be triggered in other ways, to suit each person’s needs - and we’ll always be there to help

Sensor mat
These mats respond to pressure e.g. if someone has left a chair or bed, or is standing by the front door. Pressure on the mat will automatically trigger the alarm, either calling us (in which case we will follow an agreed plan) or it can alert a carer in the home.

Automatic fall alert
This detector automatically sends us a signal if you fall, so we get help on the way without you needing to do anything. It can be useful for a wide range of conditions that predispose people to falling.

Movement alert
If there is no movement at a particular time and we know there should be, we will send help, following the plan we have agreed.

Monitored smoke detector
As soon as smoke is detected, an alarm signal is sent to Bupa and we alert the Fire Service. This is particularly useful in situations where cooking can occasionally become dangerous.

Alternative switches for activation
For people who have difficulty in pressing our usual alarm button, we can offer a range of solutions. If we don’t already have a solution, we will work with our technicians to develop one.

Medicine reminders
These alerts are programmed into your alarm and give a verbal medication reminder that is totally reliable.

Safety boxes for keys
These tamper proof boxes, with a coded key pad, enable you to leave a spare key outside. That means help can reach you even if you can’t open the door. We recommend these are used in coordination with our alarms.
